Review: Crepes from Crepe Town

While fresh, delicious and light, Crepe Town charged R50 for their standard crepe with filling, and an extra R10 to add fruit/nuts. Definitely not worth R60, as they certainly do not spread your chosen filling generously. The choice of fillings and toppings was also very limited.

Review: Crumbs and Cream

I created my sandwich with rainbow cookies and black vanilla bean ice-cream.

Rainbow cookie ice-cream sandwich with a squish of Nutella

Their ice-cream is a bit too thin, although mine had delicious flavour. Crumbs and Cream could definitely improve on their ice-cream recipes, making them more decadent. My cookies were chewy in the middle, but a little crumbly around the edges. Overall, it was an enjoyable treat, but not the best ice-cream sandwich I’ve had in my life. A bit underwhelming because they have great aesthetic.

Review: Tarts at Saltwater Grill

For a seafood bistro, I must admit, the dessert definitely exceeded my expectations.

New York Cheesecake

Very creamy and incredible rich texture with overtone of vanilla. However, this simply wasn’t a New York style baked cheesecake. Not at all what the menu suggests. The biscuit base is thin, and fresh blueberries cut the richness of the cream. It’s absolutely delicious, but definitely more of a Creme Fraiche tart than a New York cheesecake. In fact, I question whether it’s been baked at all.
